| History of the Club begins in the summer of 2005. Several users of a large local network, living in the Primorsky district of St. Petersburg, regularly meet to walk together and have a good time. Andrew (Dodo) Voronkov, Alex (Zim) Jebel, Ian (Krendel) Podolsky, and Nicholay (Chalyan) Isaikin were those people who are still in the club now. It was this way: once Dodo came with a flying disc, told about frisbee and briefly described the rules of Ultimate. To the end of the summer, they not just walked, but always played the perfect game. At the beginning of September they visited the Open Championship of Russia in 2005, where they saw all that was best at that time in Russia's Ultimate.
After that, it was decided to create own team, to start practicing, and to take a part in competitions. At first time, the team helped Georgy Fedorov - one of the most experienced players of Russia ("ultimacho"), the captain of repeated the Russian champion team Ju-Piter,. Captain of the Flying Steps was Andrei (Dodo) Voronkov, who was obsessed by Ultimate absolutely. In October 2005, began serious trainings indoors and in November the team went on its first ever tournament - "Rigas Rudens 2005" (Latvia, Ogre). Initially it was planned to create a team of only users of the local network to which all players were connected, but it turned out that this is not enough and the players began to recruit from all over the city. Indoor season has passed and came the summer season of 2006. In order to successfully perform in the Russian Championship 2006, at the end of the summer season the team merged with another team from St. Petersburg - Sky Pro. At the beginning of 2007, from Novgorod to St. Petersburg finally moved Yuri (Yurka) Rovda, one of the players of the team Novgorod Bears; he proposed to reorganize the Flying Steps, transferring its experience and leading the team to victory. Start building workouts In February 2007, at the indoor tournament Lord Novgorod 2007 (Veliky Novgorod) Yurka last time played for the Novgorod Bears and occupied the 1 place. In the same year he won the first championship of Russia on disc golf. The first tournament in the Flying Steps for him was the "Kick'n de Kock 2007" (Tallinn, Estonia) in March of that year. In the summer of 2007 it was decided to create a Frisbee Club on the basis of the existing team. The team began to recruit women for the formation of women's and mixed teams. The club members are no longer restricted their love for flying discs only Ultimate and have begun to engage in freestyle, disc golf and other games with a Frisbee. In January 2008, at the indoor tournament in "Minsk 2008" (Belarus), Flying Steps for the first time in its history, took first place, and in February the same year, the tournament "UltiFreeze 2008" (Vilnius, Lithuania), first received the Spirit of the Game award. Flying Steps :: Lord Novgorod 2008 Nowadays Club Flying Steps built a training process and regularly takes part in various competitions / tournaments in Russia, near and far abroad, and is always open to new players and those who simply want to know what it is and to play together in the Ultimate, Freestyle, disc-golf and other games with a flying disc frisbee. | ||||||||||
